JOURNALISTICALLY PASSIONIATE, CREATIVELY GIFTED

Greetings! I'm Travis Harmon-Smith, Senior Mass Communications Major/Minor at Northwestern Oklahoma State University.

Throughout my life, I've always displayed charisma along with being a conversationalist which played an important role in my well-being. Some important attributes that describes me would be hard working, determined, dedicated, and passionate about being a professional and showcasing the proper elements that are necessary to become a business figure in society. I've always had aspirations to pursue a career in Broadcast Journalism.

My love for public speaking was a major factor in pushing me to pursue television news reporting. My experience in television began during the fall of 2013, as I was hired by NWTV Channel 7 a local cable television affiliate in the city of Alva, Oklahoma where my university is located for an on-air reporter position.

As a staff member for NWTV Channel 7,  I've had various media credentials as a television reporter with coverage experience at press conferences, and post-game interviews with coaches and player personnel. One important highlight of my career thus far was preparing a television story package featuring former Northwestern Oklahoma State All-American football player Mr. Patrick Crayton who is a former wide receiver for the Dallas Cowboys.

In addition to being a television reporter for NWTV Cable Channel 7 in Alva, Oklahoma, I also gained extensive television news experience on a national scale with ESPN's "ESPNU Campus Connection program", as a national campus correspondent for Northwestern Oklahoma State University during the Spring of 2015.

Aside from television news, I also have background experience in radio production as well. During the Fall of 2015, I excepted a job with local sports radio station; KALV 1430 AM as an In-Studio Producer and Board Operator for live high school football and local sports broadcasts in the Northwest Oklahoma region.

During the Fall of 2015, as sports reporter for NWTV Cable Channel 7 in Alva, Oklahoma, I narrated and directed my first sports television series entitled " Ranger Sports Weekly". As a television host for Ranger Sports Weekly, I host weekly episodes and sports highlight packages on the athletic events surrounding the campus of NCAA Division II member Northwestern Oklahoma State University.
